Mr. Fingers "Can You Feel It (Martin Luther King Mix)"
Happy MLK Day. The track above is my favorite way to enjoy the "I Have a Dream" speech: over top a raggedy, primitive, beautiful house track from the early Chicago days. The original, instrumental version of "Can You Feel It" from 1986 is considered by many to be the first deep house track. This, then, is a sort of meeting of iconoclastic minds.
Be extra peaceful today, please.

My favorite memory of this song is hearing Frankie Knuckles spin it as his opening during Sonar Festival in Barcelona. I've been to many warehouse parties/raves in my life, but watching 25,000 people dance to Chicago House Music. It made me proud to be an American.

"Can You Feel It" takes me back to my college days in North Jersey when I'd go to Club 88, Bentley's, Paradise Garage, et al. Awesome tribute.

I can remember countless parties back in Chicago back during the 80s when MLK's speech played over a hot house track would get the kids ROARING! Its still gives me goosebumps some 20 years later. CLASSIC!!
