You big baby!
Soooooo happy that Notes on a Scandal is now out on DVD. The only thing that I love more than the movie itself is the fact that I can watch my favorite cinematic scene of 2006 (and possibly of all-time) over and over. Here it is, looped (as inspired by Bex).
I just love how she gets all wistful at the end.

First?

*sigh* Good times. Barbara (Dench) is so deliciously bitchy in her observations. Gives me a big, gay hard-on every time I watch it.
Somehow, this movie comes across even better on the small screen. A testament to its movie-of-the-week mentality? I think so.

That's it! That's exactly how it looks in my dreams! HERE I AM (roooooar!)

I love that scene!

I hated this movie until I watched it through your eyes.
PS Does it always sound like a bucket of squirrels inside your head?

Okay I refuse to comment on your Pussycap on the other site (mostly because the people there are scary and have lose grasps of the english language) but seriously Rich, your Catholic Mass comment made me wet my pants! You rule! I too think Asia sucks ass (my boyfriend couldn't get over her teeth either) and that Melissa R. was ROBBED. But like I've been saying, as long as someone hilarious (like Chelsea or Sisely) didn't win, because then I'd actually want to pay attention to the Dolls, I'm happy. But poor Melissa R. What do you think she's going to do now? What kind of job can a girl who's fashion sense includes wearing clitoral length dresses with the bra hanging out and can sing and dance better than 90% of the population?

My favourite scene was when Judi Dench was tickling Cate Blanchett's arms -- Just as creepy as any rape scene :D

ditto to Wilson's comment...

I liked the part where she gets hit in the head with the boom mike...

my favorite scene was Barbara burying here dead pussy's picture.

Oops. Of course, I meant her and not here. That whole business with her cat was some heavy-handed symbolism and I loved it.

Hey, I didn't realize they had used Courtney Love as a body double in this scene. Brill!!!!

Reading your other blog (the VH1 thingie) I realized that "should of won" is the new "should have won". I am in tears - tears of joy and happiness. P.S. Rich, I want to marry and have your baby (even if it turns out to look like Alien-Mouthed Asia)!

OMG i wet myself with delight when I saw it in the theatre. dame judi dench is the queen of my big gay universe.

HOW I loved this movie, except for Glass' intrusive score. It was so trashy yet at the same time so brilliantly acted.

OT:
Do you watch Workout on Bravo? Great example of chunk in this season on the young gay trainer.

Notes is my shit. Not only for what we have now dubbed "Denchin'", which is a fierce open handed slap, but also for the delicious 15 year-old. I feel you Cate, I feel you.

That movie was such a buzz kill.
Great acting, but DEPRESSING.

Man, how do you watch the clip? Do I need Flash or something?
I'm dying to see the clip!

bitchy fun for all the boys no doubt, but i'm kind of bummed that more gay guys don't at the same time see this as a homophobic movie. NoaS is YET ANOTHER movie representation of a lesbian as a sexual predator/villain/psychotic. Plenty of good ol' misogynist stereotypes are wheeled out for her (spinster, hag, she even gets called a 'vampire'!), and i mean it's one thing to take the movie individually, but how about in a wider context? heavenly creatures, high tension, basic instinct, murderous maids, mulholland drive, rebecca, etc. In hollywood, 'lesbian' most often equals 'depraved villain'. i mean really, just as i am sick of seeing the sissy/clown/girl's-best-friend fag, i am sick of seeing this stuff. bitch, please. the shit is tired.

nyc320, I feel you. I was actually tripping on this on my last viewing. It fits the time-honored tradition of portraying us fags and dykes as either victims or villains (or lately as the charming, witty, sexless best friend). Very annoying. But as much as it pisses me off, this movie is still aces. At least there was no heterosexual charmer who swoops in and saves the unstable little breeder girl from herself.

I finally watched this last night. I was expecting to see some homophobia, but I found Barbara's character was too well written to be dismissed as another one of Hollywood's crazy dykes.
