You know how contestants on American Idol are always doing that thing where they go for the big finish by singing the title of whatever song they're performing at its end? Of course you do.
Now you know it even better.
This is just from this season, and these are just highlights, by the way. I left a few of the more melismatic (thus slower-moving) examples on the cutting-room desktop. I assume one of these spanning all 10 seasons would have to run for about a half an hour to really convey just how overused the end-on-the-title device is. Whatever. Overuse or not, it always makes me laugh. Worth it!
... also a nice reminder of how godawful this season has been.

I stopped watching this caterwauling mess years ago. And friends have been trying to convince me that THIS season is "sssssoooooo much better than any of the past seasons" and that I "just HAVE to watch it!" Pft.

It's also a true mark of a hacky song when it ends on a title. Surprisingly, AI contestants take on hacky songs a LOT.

Honestly, I'm generally of the opinion that American Idol is an industry-fueled travesty full of vapid songs and poorly-done classics that glorifies mediocre musicianship and unhealthy singing and exists to make money for music corporations, BUT this season was FULL of FANTASTIC singers, and it makes me sad that they're signing their lives and voices away. Oh well, a lot of them will have CAREERS.
Great cut -- there's still PLENTY of cheese to go around.
