Wow. Never thought I'd have the opportunity to be a tool and holler "FIRST!", but on Valentine's, who can hold back?

A single tear is rolling down my cheek.
I have never before been moved by the beauty that the written word can possess. Not until now.

Bravo.
Bravo.

Andie

The line "My dog molested me a lot when I was younger" made me laugh the most because it reminded me of that episode of Showdog Moms & Dads where the crazy lady in the park said about her bite-happy dog, "The dog, he bite me in the vagina". Haha. Memories.

Genevieve

I know this was meant to be funny and it was, but it was also very depressing. It just made me question WHY, with all the talented novelists and poets out there, would they publish drivel like this?

Torrin

Truly, sir, you are a god among men. Thank you for this.

Lulu

Also, there's no need to have a revernece for poetry but just because you can't write it or read it, doesn't make it stupid.

Lulu

sorry - "reverence"

Rich

Also, there's no need to have a revernece for poetry but just because you can't write it or read it, doesn't make it stupid.

How did I imply that?

Jen

Lovely! I'm considering rewriting your version of "Zippety Click I Love You" for my boyfriend. Sandwiches and cocks....aw.

Jackie

amazing . . . and I love the cover

Best Valentines day ever!!

I'm a bit freaked out though by "Are you comfortable?"

I briefly dated a guy who told me he only had one testicle, which pretty much ruined his chances of any pants action from me.

AND

The guy who cornered me at a Christmas party and told me his sister had just had a full term still born. Thank jebus it was open bar.

Lots of love to you and yours!

Siege

Hilarious! I don't think you should drop your poetic aspirations so quickly--there's talent here! (Talent in making me laugh, anyway.)

You should check out Beau Sia's "A Night Without Armor: The Revenge" in which he does kind of the same thing with Jewel's poetry book.

Do you think Ms. Tyra will ever decide to become a poet? I hope she does, if only to see your response.

My favourite: "Woman Laughing in the Night", both yours and Danielle's. A taxi giving birth to a man? I need to get myself to a book store!!!

My favourite had to be "Woman Laughing in the Night", both yours and Danielle's. A taxi giving birth to a man? I need to get myself to a book store!!!

Gwen

Thanks for making my valentine's day the best one yet. These are pure genius and made my morning:
laughing and glowing,
and silently
knowing
that
laughter
is part of the art...

Katie

Oh my god, your version of "Daughter of Love" made me pee my pants. You gotta love Danielle Steel, she's my mom's favorite!

Carly

This made my day. I'm going to e-mail it to everyone I know.

SarahD

I suddenly feel so much better about not having read much Danielle Steele. Worst. Poetry. EVER.

Me

I was laughing so hard I was crying. Thanks for making this the best Valentine's Day ever!

moss

what...is the difference between a bear and a chunk?

(i'm listening to your disco mix right now YEAH)

Patrick

you are really too much.
Camille Paglia's "Break, Blow, Burn" migh turn you on to poetry. Whitman really rocks, very funny and cutting edge.
enough, ok. sorry

♥dex

Classic, Rich. Classic I say.

Speaking of your disco mix, when will you bless us with another?

Foxy

I haven't read Beau's book in ages. I should break that out.

kristen

my god rich i love you so much right now
this has to be your best post of the year
thus far
we need to be gay-man-straight-woman
married
by this June
14th, my birthday

trick please

OMG!! THAT is effin funny. I especially like the first one, except for me it's the reverse since I'm a heterosexual woman.

I agree, I think poems are so fuckin' stupid and pretentious. I especially hate that 'Spoken word' shit where it has no real meter, like they're trying to rap-talk. I'd rather read a novel.

To each his own. Happy Valentine's day all! Hope we all get some tonight
