Today, a piece I wrote and recorded on "I'm not here to make friends" and the ensuing supercuts will premiere on This American Life. I'm excited! It was really weird to write for radio (and certainly my editors Nancy Updike and Jane Feltes, as well as TAL mastermind Ira Glass, helped me streamline what is usually read into what can be heard). It was also weird to write about these videos, period, since I felt like they were self-explanatory. Initially the task seemed kind of like dissecting an autopsy, but in the end, I think it was worthwhile to verbalize what previously went without saying. I'll link to the podcast in this post once it's up on Monday.
I'm reposting these videos for the ease of TAL listeners (since they're otherwise scattered about this blog, which isn't too easy to navigate anyway). I'll probably keep this post on top for a few days, so if this blog looks like it hasn't been updated in a while, scroll down a post to find out how wrong you are. I know you know to do this. I know you aren't stupid. I just don't feel like answering any obvious questions just in case, that's all. That's for my ease.
Update: The podcast is up. Download it here.
Wow! I love TAL and can't wait to hear your story--congrats!

This is my first comment on your site but I have been reading since 2006. I have to say that I am proud of your the accomplishments that you have made so far. You've made TAL dude!
Hopefully this wasn't too saccharine of a post.

You might not be here to make friends, but FourFour branching out to This American Life only makes me want to be your friend even more.
I idolize you. Keep on keepin' on, Rich!

I had no idea you were going to be on This American Life until I heard Ira Glass say your name (say your name). You have achieved one of my personal dreams and I am thrilled for you. Congratulations - you were great, and it was awesome to hear Jade again.
