Not to incite a stan war or anything (HAHA, I WOULD LOVE THAT), but the practice of female singers being asked to comment on their peers (or taking it upon themselves to do so) is endlessly fascinating. (Is it sexist to play women off of each other? It it bitchy for women to take the bait? Is it sexist to think that they're bitchy?) So here are a bunch of clips of divas talking about divas. I gave myself an organizational rule when assembling this: The person speaking in each clip must have been talked about in the preceding clip.
"She has an angel in her throat"
"*Jabba the Hutt whimpers*"
A+ editing.

Wonderful.
Britney stands out like a sore thumb.

thank god Britney has gone the reclusive-pop-star-with-canned-interviews route. i can't believe how much she used to refer to things as retarded. i am not the PC police by any means, but watching her say that (and that often!) is so uncomfortable in retrospect.

LOVE. but i seriously don't get the whole rivalry thing, it comes across as just totally petty-thetic to me. there's plenty of room in the music universe for all hot talents. this is why i should (or could never?) be famous. i'd completely fawn all over my noteworthy predecessors AND peers. well, until they backbit ME that is. confidence - not cattiness - will always be in vogue.
P.S. god i love Cher.

Omg Rich, you're giving me so much life with this. I love you forever! <3

OMG the Celine Dion/Cher impression is incredible! Wow that made my morning, thanks Rich!

I agree with Sarah that Britney is nicey-nicey on video (but not always in private). As for sticking out like a sore thumb, she sings like one, too. :0)
It's funny that when most of these women are bitching about each other, it's so clearly about being threatened—Whitney vs. Mariah, Mariah vs. EVERYONE, Cher's very frank assessment of Madonna as being more creative and better than her at what she did. Mary J. Blige's comment about Christina stuck out more as anger over her rudeness, which was refreshing because Christina is rude. I'm surprised there is no video of Cher calling Madonna a cunt: "She could afford to be a little more magnanimous and a little less of a cunt" was the phrase, I think.
Also worth noting that many of these feuds are old news today (if still vastly entertaining to watch), but Janet did NOT greet Madonna when Madonna eulogized her brother on the tee-vee...

there needs to be a part 2 featuring: Patti LaBelle, Liza Minnelli, Barbra Streisand, Gladys Knight, Diana Ross (Patti's "that lil' heffa" comment about Diana), Donna Summer, Dionne Warwick, Reba, Dolly Parton, Katy Perry, more of Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Beyonce (PLEASE!), Kelly Rowland, Cyndi Lauper, Keyshia Cole, Fantasia, Faith Hill, Nicki Minaj, Lil' Kim, more of Mary J. Blige, LaToya Jackson, Lisa Marie Presley (there's a video of her dissing LaToya and praising Janet), Ashanti, Ciara, Brandy, Carrie Underwood, and Kelly Clarkson

I saw this on another blog and thought to myself "this seems like something Rich would do" so of course immediately checked the youtube account and wasn't surprised. Was surprised though there wasn't very much between Britney and Christina. Would have been funny to see them more when they were still pretending to be innocent

Who is it that Cher is talking about in the end? I listened twice and didn't hear a name mentioned. Is it Celine?
Posted by: Rachel | November 22, 2011 at 07:49 PM
pt. 2 also needs Pink dissing Xtina Aguilera (from Pink's Behind the Music and the concert footage where she sings a cover of "Beautiful" to a blow-up doll), Etta James dissing Beyonce, Aretha, Tina Turner, Nicole Scherzinger vs. Paula Abdul, Lea Michele gushing about her admiration Barbra Streisand and Babs not giving her golf claps at Clive Davis' Grammy party,

queen mimi slayed.

I love how when talking about Janet Jackson, Madonna is like "I don't know anyone she knows" and then when paying tribute to Michael after his death she talks about how close they were when they both first started. Haha.

Oh I know, Madonna's 'tribute' was such b.s. But then most tributes like that are I suppose.

omg. Never knew Mariah was such an jealous cunt! lol.
Anyway, out of all the divas Britney and Kylie seem to be the most humble and nice to be around.

This is seriously a novel/movie/poem/love song.
There is a narrative, there is an arc, there's a storyline, there's drama, comedy, there's conflict, resolution, and then there's the happy ending, title credits, and a post-credits flimflam.
LOVE. IT.

I'm actually starting to wonder if anyone really likes divas and listen to their music or if they just like to place bets on who is going to fail or break under pressure the fastest. Judging by all the stanning crap? Yes.
